Your medical spa is your one-stop resource for anti-aging therapies, stress relief, and procedures to combat sun damage. Minimally invasive techniques are extremely popular right now with our patients due to their ability to offer natural-looking results without the need for surgery and the downtime that usually accompanies it. Here at Dermatology Center of the Rockies, we are proud to provide a variety of treatments to our patients and encourage you to learn more about them.
Is your skin looking dull and tired lately? One of the most common reasons for skin to lose its luster is the buildup of inorganic material covering the surface of your skin. Known as the stratum corneum, this skin layer is composed of dead skin cells, oils, and cellular debris that can block the natural radiance of the living skin tissue underneath. Microdermabrasion can help brighten your complexion by removing this obstruction. We use a small device to gently spray microscopic particles onto the surface of your skin to break up the molecular bonds of the stratum corneum. This inorganic material and the crystals are then suctioned away using the device. The result is skin that is smoother, more youthful, and more alive.
The most popular facial filler at our medical spa is probably the Juvederm® brand, which contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is present in large amounts in youthful skin but declines with age. An injection of Juvederm® helps restore this important skin component to restore hydration and volume to your skin, pushing wrinkles up and out. In addition to hyaluronic acid, Juvederm® contains lidocaine to ensure your comfort during your procedure.
Polylactic acid is another common ingredient found in facial fillers, with Sculptra® being the most popular brand. After injection, Sculptra® is gradually replaced with fresh collagen to renew the appearance of your skin and minimize wrinkles. Best results are obtained with several Sculptra® treatment sessions spaced several weeks apart.
Facial fillers offer excellent anti-aging results, but the products must be replaced with follow-up injections periodically because the product will be gradually metabolized by your skin.
A chemical peel is a medical-grade solution consisting of a chemical that is applied to the skin to peel away some part of the outer skin layer, revealing fresher skin underneath. Superficial chemical peels are most appropriate when you need a form of exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and cellular debris. Medium peels are for light wrinkles and scars, while deep peels are used in the cases of deep or scars, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
