Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to the skin that causes the outer layers to eventually peel off.  The new, regenerated skin is smoother, tighter and more even than the old skin.  Fully customizable, chemical peels can infuse the skin with agents that assist with drying up cystic acne or hydrate dull and thirsty skin. Our Medical Aestheticians can assess your unique skin profile, discuss your goals and tailor a chemical peel regimen that is perfect for your lifestyle.

Chemical Peel Types – Light, Mid-Depth and Deep
Light peels are progressive, meaning that you will not see any major sloughing; rather you will see results over a series of treatments.  Light or progressive peels are also sometimes called “lunchtime” peels because there is little to no downtime involved.  Mineral makeup can be worn immediately and only mild redness or blotchiness sometimes occurs and usually dissipates within a few hours.  The sloughing experienced is typically on a microscopic level and is not noticeable.  Light peels are perfect for anyone looking to rejuvenate their skin without any downtime.

Mid-Depth peels will give you faster results, but typically induce light to medium sloughing between the 3rd and 5th day after treatment.  Mid-depth peels are great for those looking to reduce lines and wrinkles, smooth out texture, dry up cystic acne, and improve overall skin health.

Deep chemical peels are reserved for those with deep lines and wrinkles, heavy acne scarring and thick, rough skin texture.  The most bang for your buck, these chemical peels typically require 7 to 14 days of downtime and cause heavy crusting and peeling.  The most aggressive of peels, deep peels penetrate deep in the epidermal layer, which in turn spurs the body’s natural trauma response, thereby creating new, healthy, scar free and even skin.
